The Club weekend at Kingussie was a spectacular success with fine but cold weather throughout the long walk to Braeriach.

The final approach to the summit was a snow and ice field which necessitated the use of ice axes and crampons, a great way to reach the summit.

The main club walk of the Kingussie weekend was on Saturday 16th Feb when the club tackled Braeriach. Braeriach is the 3rd highest Munro after Ben Nevis and Ben MacDui. The walk is over 20km with an ascent of 838 m, so it was an early start for the 17 club members who attended. As it turned out the weather was superb with the sun shining from start to finish though the wind was cold. The final ascent to the summit was literally the icing on the cake with the hard packed snow and ice making crampons and ice axes a necessity.
A great day was finished off with the dual celebration Billy Stonebank's 60th and Davy McLellan, a great evening of banter, singing and the odd libation.
